HeartSpell: Horizon Academy developed by Dire Kitten Games (how cute is that name?) is a match three puzzle game with romantic and platonic (if you so choose) elements, with magic and over 30 hours of fully voiced lines! It reminded me of -ahem- Hunie Pop a little bit but WAY less horny and the characters in it actually have personalities and so far are all charming, except maybe Amara, she is a bit aloof and arrogant but i think we can get her to warm up to us.

You are one of only a few humans to attend the academy, which is in another dimension from earth The game starts you out asking your pronouns (so all you anti-woke people can stop reading right now if that bothers you because a lot of the characters use they/them pronouns and such) I personaly do not mind, because its not a game-breaker for me, we use pronouns everyday without a problem! plus im not anti-woke haha. The game also does something that i really, really liked, LARGE TEXT! i dont have to squint! and you can have different fonts if you so chose, the game also tells you off the bat that poly is more accepted at the academy then monogamy, so keep that in mind, you can date more than one person if you so choose, or you can just pick one, personaly im going to go with as many as i can.

The other aspects of the game besides the great characters and fun match 3 gameplay is the spells, you get them from other students and they help your gameplay, cant get past Amaras grueling first puzzle? try to switch up your spells and cantrips a bit to make it a little easier! you can always try again the next day (the days cycle, but there is no 'timer' so you can do things on your own time) You can also build up your elements with points you earn from defeating puzzles so you can be more powerful its super fun. Another thing is that the art for this game is so good! its gorgeous, beautiful, stunning, the characters expressions and movements are wonderful and bright, so detailed and charming. The style is more anime-esque and fantasy but i dont mind that at all, i love the designs of many of, if not all the characters, especialy Miko, the moth girl and i dont even like the color yellow but she is just SO CUTE! there is a siren (she has a great voice btw) remnants, fae, and i even think i spot a werewolf in the games cover art..

The hundred line last defence academy (phew what a name!) may look slightly familar.. Daganrompa anyone? The same art style is used for last defence academy!
They even poke fun at the danganrompa games a bit. While not a murder mystery like dangonrampa games, there is plenty.. and im mean PLENTY of bloodshed to
go around, in fact the game has a name for the weapons/system of battle called Hemoanima, it seems the whole game is centered around blood so if you are squeaminsh
i would pass on this one.

The premise of the game is that you are dropped into a school that is humanities last defence, if the school falls to the monsters, its all over for the world. The cast
of characters are wildly unique individuals and its hard to say who i like more. Of course we have the goody-goody main character in Takumi, hes nothing really
notable, hes just your average joe. Theres the cool girl, the mechanic, the stoic guy, the tough guy with a heart of gold.. these wierd twins that give off incest vibes
(seriously the guy is creepy..) a pathetic loser, and a junji ito knockoff to name a few.

The battle system for this game is kind of a hybrid of turn based, grid based strategy and tower defence. The battle area will swarm with waves of small-fry enemies
and youll either have to defend the shield tower, take out all the enemies, or the big baddie. Of course this is just a demo so there could be other winning/losing
condition i havnt seen yet. Its pretty fun, if a lot to take in at once. you garner voltage which is sort of like a limit break and you can unleash a very powerful attack
with some cool animation.

I only did one ending so far (ending 3) but i will be going through it again to get all endings and plat. the game is so cute and only take a few hours to play a path. The reaper is sarcastic and charming (as well as you can make your own character that way too) its just such a fun little game, i loved it so much.

This game was very fun to play. Being from the creaters of Neptunia there is a fair share of fanswervice and humor. Unlike neptunia though the characters are nicely fleshed out, the story is fleshed out and not as ridiculous as neptunia (dont get me wrong i love nepenp) This was just.. better.

I did get a little annoyed you had to revisit the same areas twice, and i will forever say 'oh my' like Tiara now, seriously she says it ALOT. The fury system is fun and i liked all the beautiful art for the cards, i do wish some were more powerful than they were, like the cute dark girl, but its a give or take. I also like that you can unlock bonuses to keep. I did play half the game without realizing i could put skill points into more than just base stats and get new attakcs, regarldss i did not die once in this game even when underskilled. It is easy but also challenging if you want to try out the hard bosses.

Altogether it is a very fun game with a great story and characters. You can still change outfits and accesories which is always fun. If you like Neptunia games, youll really like this one.
