love this game, and much love to the devs for listening to the community

a lot of good changes in the update before this one, and with the latest one, they even made it possible to revert the controversial aspects that had been added.
thank you so much for that!

as for the game, it's incredible. i still haven't finished it, but i can recommend it wholeheartedly for being an incredibly fun, and uniquely stylistic experience like few others i have seen before

It's been way over 6 months since the 1896 update, so I'll re-do my review.

I used to love Hunt Showdown.
Some years ago, before the 1896 update, it used to run fine for me, but with a bit of lag.
At the time I gave my PC a much needed upgrade, and then the game was running awesomely for me. Around 100 fps or more.

But then the 1896 update was released. When it first launched, I was getting something like 40 FPS in most scenarios, with a ton of spike drops down to 15 fps. I saw a lot of people in the community speculate that this might just be a problem with graphic compatibility that they were gonna fix soon. Well, I opened Hunt a few weeks ago and the game still runs the same for me.

Truth be told, they made A LOT of bad changes in (and since) the 1896 update, but to me the biggest, most unforgivable offender is locking out a chunk of your community. I got the game with certain specs in mind, I even upgraded my setup, and now I can't even play a decent match.

And no, I'm not gonna upgrade my PC which is perfectly fine just to play Hunt Showdown! Changing the engine of your game via an update is a terrible idea, and unjustifiable to leave players out of the experience because of it. I can't give this game anything but a negative review. Which is a shame, because it used to be one of the best multiplayer games I've ever played.

Now, I'm fine with it rotting in its current state.
