Leaked CIA documents revealed the existence of “Project Falcon”, a clandestine operation by the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' (IRGC) covert operation group Unit 840. It aims to weaken the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by infiltrating its esports teams with players who purposefully underperform in order to waste capital from the Public Investment Fund, damage the Kingdom’s reputation, and reducing its influence in the Middle East.

The leaked document also revealed that Saudi Intelligence, with CIA's assistance, has identified 5 foreign individuals recruited by the IRGC for this operation so far: Nikola Kovac, Ilya Osipov, Maksim Lukin, Rene Madsen, and Damjan Stoilkovsky.

However, further Saudi and Western efforts to thwart this project have only been met with defeat due to the failure in identifying the IRGC commander in charge of this campaign. So far, the only information the CIA has on this elusive spymaster is his codename: "zonic".
