The game as it is right now is very bare bones.

The PVP is ♥♥♥♥ and filled with people that are arguably more faeces ridden than the game itself is covered in.

Oh boy, here we go again...

In my opinion: Censorship in a game that is about realism is bad, hence why i must give a negative review due to RoN abandoning its core theme of realism.

Early Access Review
(Not a negative review, more of a mixed one)

This COULD be an amazing game, the groundwork for it to become a revolutionary title is already there. However, there are a ton of issues that make playing forever winter sometimes frustrating.

The good things are, for instance, the weapon modification options, the atmosphere and the overall gameplay .

It truly feels "Tarkovy" but not to the extend of full realistic damage, gun gameplay is fun but has its moments where it can be very janky, clunky and buggy, like Drones quite literally shooting you trough a wall while having no retaliatory options and unfairly dying to it...

Speaking of Unfairness, the Enemies are very... very buggy. Their spawn points are also unfair, sometimes spawning right behind you and domeing you with a 12.7mm LMG with you not being able to escape the barrage of bullets and losing all your items you've tried to retrieve.

There are also a ton of terrain glitches where sliding off some meat piles gets you particle accelerated into a wall at mach 10, making you lose all your equipment, or, invisible "roadblocks" in places where they arent and shouldn't be, like a huge empty field.

Bot teammates are also a major hazard, with the chance of pushing you into enemy fire or straight up doing the flesh pile particle accelerator ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on a friendly fire basis and having the immovability of a Cinder Block wall... equivalent with the intelligence of a Cinder Block Wall... you can kinda see how having Bots on your squad could be a con rather than a pro.

This is of course an Early Access title, and according to sources, the devs released this game earlier due to Fan request.

I recommend those wanting to buy the game to wait a little more.

I am shocked that this game hasn't more people playing it.

It's overall a really good game, reminding me of crimson skies, which used to be a game i used to play a lot, ages ago.

It also has a very novel and somewhat well executed concept of using AI for voices.

I would definitely recommend this game, as it has a lot of fun and very mechanics where one can design their own planes, drinks and even bar. It's worth the 20€.

It's a good game, however...

I do not recommend buying Helldivers 2 if you think about getting to the late-game stages.

I'm leaving out the positives because the negatives ruin the entire gameplay experience. This review is also based on Bot missions, as i don't do Bug missions, as those who play Bug missions play a completely different game that is more akin to a Zombie Shooter with Titans.

Things i think ruin the gameplay experience.

1. Balance Developer Incompetence

(Note: I'm not talking about Pilested)
Arrowhead hired someone who has a record of fumbling nearly every game they get their hands on, one of which was Magicka. There were major problems with balancing the gameplay of Magicka back when it was one of the go-to isometric squad games. The lead balancing developer did not hit the mark of what the players wanted in Magicka 2 and was notorious for getting things wrong. This was discussed heavily on the Helldivers 2 Discord, as people were sceptic on his abilities to balance the game properly. A month and a half later, and everything went to ♥♥♥♥. From early February till late September there were Nerfs thrown about everywhere, no weapon was safe. The Railgun lost it's penetration power to shoot trough shields, the literal thing it was supposed to do and became more akin to a charge-up sniper rifle. Flame weapons had their damages HALVED making them quite literally worse than the bird-shot auto shotgun. The bird-shot shotgun couldn't even penetrate level 1 (nearly unarmoured/bare skin) armouring no matter how close you got. The Mechs got disabled by a single rocket, not even those new fancy rockets that deal more damage, no, a single small rocket is all it took to take out the Mech, if it didn't take it self out by blowing it self up by firing a rocket of its own.

Nearly all of those issues were fixed. But here are some of the issues that havent been.

The Railgun still doesn't have its day 1 Penetration potential. (They promised to revert the Nerfs, which they didnt)

The FAF-14 "Lock-On Launcher" still has major issues with locking on to enemies. (This hasn't been fixed since release)

The AX/LAS-5/AR-23"Drones" Damages teammates way to often and are more of a hazard than the enemies.

The AX/T-13 does no damage to enemies and only takes up space in your inventory.

The EXOs "Mechs" have broken hitboxes, and more often than not you unintentionally kill teammates that stand in front of you... by walking backwards...

The Handheld Gas Weapons are redundant and barely do any damage, if less, compared to the flamethrowers pre-rebuff.

Turrets, Both Forward firing and Arc Firing, kill teammates way too often and are more of a hazard than the enemy it self sometimes.

The Shield Backpack is more of a "1 Second Grace Period Protection" device than anything close to a shield generator, it will not protect you from anything slightly larger than small arms fire.

2. They don't know what they're doing.

Since the release of the update that changed the automatons back in August, there have been a ton of issues regarding fighting the automatons. One of which is the blatant issues with the new "Reinforced Scout Striders" with their overpowered Rockets that ragdoll you way too much and instantly kill you no matter how much armour you're wearing or whatever type of barricade, energy shield or rock you're behind. Another issue that appeared with the new change to the automatons is that Hulks have become WAY harder to kill. Hulks had a grace period where they wouldn't fire their guns after a volley from their Rocket barrage or Laser gun, allowing for a window of opportunity to shoot them without taking damage or risking your life, by shooting its extremely small weakspot, it lasted long enough to where you had the chance to get the hits in. This has been removed, there is no longer a period of time where the Hulks have to "charge up" or "readjust" to fire their next weapon after the other has been fired, making opportunities to take these high risk enemies out barely viable and downright unfair.

Speaking of ragdolls, the new balancing team has promised to deal with the ragdoll issues in the october update and "deal with them". Since that statement and the release of the update, no issues regarding ragdolls has been fixed. The new missiles ragdoll one too hard, you're being launched 10-40 meters with uncontrollable speeds, not dying from the missile alone but from the blatantly overexpressed impact damage, even though visually, one should've been fine after landing, or from being launched into a wall of bullets waiting to shred you.

The intentions of Arrowhead have become more dishonest or overhyped the more this game is being worked on. Promises are being broken or not upheld, Balancing developers are incompetent even after the change of personnel. And, the entire Sony Debacle.

Arrowhead does not know what they're doing. I hope they improve with the coming time and manage to make this game even better than it is right now.
