Short and simple game, too short and too simple.

The new DLC brought me back to this game, and it still holds up, though the attention paid to it and passion for it by its current owners doesn't hold up to the original team, it's still a good game. A few dozen characters, hundreds of items and a handful of endings make it a great game to play.

My one complaint is the later expansions didn't require unlcoking almost anything, in the base game and the Hopoo DLC you had only a few items and characters you could play, and you needed to earn the ability to use the rest, I still haven't unlocked a couple of them, in the Gearbox released DLCs you get (almost) everything unlocked just for buying the game, that sense of achievement (and the literal achievements) is missing. Also feels odd that this new DLC adds skin unlocks to all the base game characters based on the new bosses, but doesn't also come with skin unlocks related to that boss for the new character, would be nice if all of the characters had 4* skins, not the base characters have 4, Seekers of the Storm have 3 and Alloyed Collective have the same 2 that the original characters had unlockable on day 1

*One has 5 from the Dead Cells crossover

The problem with most reviews for this game is they are comparing KF3 after a few months to KF2 after over 15 years of updates, fixes, tweaks and additions. There are issues with it, sure, but I remember KF1 and KF2 in their early days too, things got better over time as more maps, guns enemies and bosses were added to the game. I hope to see things like that here, including custom maps and a better system for joining games (matchmaking into round 4 or 5 isn't that fun) but I don't expect the brand new game to match the content of a live service game that came out 16 years ago right away.

Some of the puzzles don't even match the hints given in game...

The first game won awards, literature awards that no game had won before, and this is definitely a worthy sequel.

Do I honestly need to say anything? We've been waiting for this for years, they took everything from Hollow Knight and dialled it up.

Literally the first video game to win a Hugo award, something it would take 3 years for Baldur's Gate 3 to win again. The story is great, gameplay is fun, it gets difficult to complete things after the main story is finished, but that's how games should be.

Honestly a great game. You can finish the basic premise of the game, getting to room 46, without any deep puzzle solving skill, but the game is easier if you can figure it out, until it's not and you start trying to track down deeper and more intricate side puzzles, puzzles that can't be solved on a single run, and of course always relying on the luck of the draw to some level. Even 40 something runs in I occasionally build myself into a corner in the first two rows.

Take all the best things about the Horizon games and all the best things about the previous Lego games... and throw them out the window to leave behind this.

Levels are way too short, there's no real exploration, no puzzles of any kind, nothing to really collect, even when I raised the difficulty on starting a game it was pretty trivial in combat... And I am about half way done the sacred lands at this point.

Collecting the mini figures was something that took effort before, they're gone. Red bricks, gone. Getting enough studs in each level to earn rewards, gone. And also if you get a gold brick at the end of every level, and that's the only way to get them, they are just a progress marker not what they always were before.

Decent pinball game with some more mature themes (horror not nsfw) The table challenges and cosmetic unlocks are fun enough to keep you retrying and the daily challenges are nice... as long as you have the tables at least.
