In 2005 I had 500+ hours on Counter-Strike before the hackers got obnoxious & I was forced to either

A) defend myself from this abuse
B) sit there and take it like a good little boy
C) run and hide

I decided to research what cheat these spineless trolls were using that Valve clearly couldn't detect. I then installed and started a new game instance where the cheat was automatically detected and I was automatically banned from VAC servers without even using the cheat. I chalked it up to me being inefficient & using a bad "hack".

It's been 19 years since my VAC ban and the cheating is still prevalent. Valve has done absolutely nothing to stop the exploits, and continues to punish the player-base instead of correcting their mistake.

If we break this down in a chronological fashion, we have a software developer failing to create a safe product, selling this product to consumers, and then blaming/punishing the consumers for their failure to insure the product they sold to function as the consumer expected.

This is the equivalent of Viagra blaming consumers for health complications like vasolidation resulting in heart attacks because they "eat too much bacon" [nitrates], and since we live in a society that spends twice as much as any other country on healthcare, this means we have twice as many people benefiting from these illnesses via prescriptions/insurance which means they have zero incentive to combat the root problem.

Same way Valve/Steam have zero incentive to combat the hacking because the hacking results in bans, which then results in more steam accounts, more games/DLC purchases, more profits, more bonuses, and ultimately more $ for the kings of the "Rat city experiment" managing Valve/Steam under the framework that we call neocolonial capitalism, or a more real-world name, modern slavery.
