Why is there no way to get in contact with moderators? Or at least make requests for moderators?

There are plenty of conversations that have been settled, and it is annoying to wait until people stop replying to the OP when the conversation has run its course.

In other words, the problem has been settled, yet people who only read the main post continue to reply as if it were recently posted. The posts are several days to weeks old, and the problem has been solved, yet we still receive notifications for every person who only reads the original post and comments on it as if it were posted earlier that day.

I know that there is the option to delete a conversation before 5 or 7 replies, but there really should be a way to close a conversation, say, after 20 or 30 replies.
