Thanks for the group invite! My name is Vladimir, I'm a game developer from Latvia. I like turn-based games, but that often includes puzzles, when I'm in no hurry to make a move and can think however much I like.
I've recently grabbed Faerie Solitaire on Steam (while it was on sale) and it was pretty good:

Funny that you've invited me at this time. I've actually recently published my new puzzle game (web version), unblocking, for free: http://coldwild.com/unblocking/ - you can check it out here, it offers calming music (I hope) and hassle-free solving process with minimalistic ui :)
and here's a recommendation, john: the quell series:
http://store.steampowered.com/sub/66682/
I'm currently playing the third game (memento) and they're really great.
Thanks for the kind words. I really want to make this a central, active place for puzzle fans to come, so thank you for joining. And a huge WOW on Quell!! I used to have the first one on Kindle Fire, but when my Fire broke a couple of years ago, I'd forgotten all about it. I had no idea Quell was on PC too, or that there were more games. Thanks for the heads up; I really liked the first one!
the second game doesn't differ much from the first but it was still enjoyable and it's worth playing. the third adds a lot more new things and there's a new one, don't have it yet:

and while its bugginess is not great, the game itself is pretty cool, so I'll add strata to the recommendations as well (I could go on for a while but won't just yet):

Cheers!
So far, my favorite puzzle game is Hexcells Infinite. I tend to like logic puzzles, although TIS-100 is a bit insane hehe.
About myself, I guess I'd call myself a technologist, at least in the enthusiast and cognitive sense. I have a passion for pretty much anything STEM. I am fascinated by sciences like physics and psychology, and have a huge interest in the maths, but my interests are not limited to just those fields.
I have a huge appreciation for computers, and gaming, and I think they have a massive potential in the realm of education, research, and cognitive exercise that is just starting to be tapped.
I was going to college to become a computer engineer, and have aspirations of working at NASA as well as getting into my own business ventures. Unfortunately, because of recent financial strain as well as health priorities, I'm taking a break from classes for a few years, but I'm continuing my education in many areas through reading and research. I'm also looking, and open to any opportunities through which I can learn, and apply what I learn in software and hardware development {hint, hint, developers ;) }.
Obviously I enjoy puzzle games, as well as other games that include problem solving aspects. I more enjoy cerebrally challenging games, and games that immerse you in the environment. Specifically, puzzle related, that would leave games like Portal and The Talos Principle as my current tops, Talos being my favorite so far, but also probably because I enjoyed arguing with the machine (maybe because it made me think harder), and I'm interested to see what comes of The Turing Test, and if it includes an AI, and the second installment of Talos.
Maybe a bit overboard, but that aside, I'm interested to see what comes of this place.

This seems like a nice group :)
i joined your group a second ago and would like to show you some puzzle games I really like because I know how difficult it can be to find good "not mainstream" games like these...
http://store.steampowered.com/app/265890/
Hexcells
(and successors Hexcells Plus/Infinite), it's like Minesweeper done right :) with ambient music, perfect for a calm mood
http://store.steampowered.com/app/367450/
Poly Bridge
one of many bridge builders but the only modern one I found on steam
http://store.steampowered.com/app/375820/
Human Resource Machine
it is like TIS-100 with graphics, you write "programs" to complete tasks
http://store.steampowered.com/app/209790/
Splice
hard to describe, you construct and deconstruct cells... better you look at the shop site
http://store.steampowered.com/app/22000/
World of Goo
This is a physics puzzler with nice graphics. I think it is from the same people who made Human Resource Machine.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/18500/
Defense Grid
I'm not sure if this is meant as a puzzle game. It's a tower defense game that I played many hours to find a perfect solution.
The other ones in my favourites list are already mentioned by others here, for example SpaceChem, Infinifactory, Tis-100 (I really love the games from this Zachatronics guy)
Hope I could show you something new and have a nice day...
PS: sorry for my english, i don't use it often, and I don't know how to link to the steam shop with a picture like you do, so these are normal links
PPS: thanks Dohi64 :)
just put the store page url in the comment and the forum converts it automatically. and welcome to the group.
I'm happy to find fellow puzzle lovers, as most games on my collection that match this genre are not as well-received by my friends. Looking forward to any recommendations, puzzles, or just general conversation about this! (And also quick cheat on those pesky daily Fidel puzzles)
Now for an actual question, after seeing DROD recommended like infinity times, I still couldn't get the order of the games. Which titles should I get first?
looks like my spotlight write-up wasn't clear enough, but always happy to talk about drod. you should start with this:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/314330/DROD_Gunthro_and_the_Epic_Blunder/
then:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/422180/DROD_King_Dugans_Dungeon/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/422181/DROD_Journey_to_Rooted_Hold/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/422182/DROD_The_City_Beneath/
and finally (but not really):
https://store.steampowered.com/app/351320/DROD_The_Second_Sky/
plus play this somewhere in-between, I'm sure it fits somewhere chronologically, but it plays differently from the rest of the series, it was actually my first fully completed drod:game:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/351330/DROD_RPG_Tendrys_Tale/
and there are 12 expansion packs (smitemaster selection) if you want even more, those fill in story stuff and vary in difficulty. this list about puzzle game dlc has some more info:
