Community Corner (Group member creations)
show the world how good (or bad) you are at puzzle games by submitting your creations here. they might even get featured in one of the newsletters! one rule only: they have to be your own work, that's the whole point.

submissions can include but aren't limited to:
  • workshop levels or other items,
  • guides or walkthroughs,
  • mods,
  • artwork inspired by a puzzler,
  • a DROD level created with their built-in editor (not workshop-compatible, unfortunately),
  • a hexcells infinite level you created for /r/hexcellslevels,
  • or whatever else, even if it's not for/about a game curated by puzzle lovers.

pro tip: for workshop levels or collections to show up in your game, you might have to visit that workshop page and subscribe to the items first. some games might let you do this in-game as well.

and to help you figure out which games have workshop support or a level editor (from the ones we curate anyway), check out this workshop support or level editor list.

looking forward to seeing some cool stuff!

A while ago I went on a spree making images for Paint it Back.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/385250/Paint_it_Back/

Friends tested them mostly on Master and/or Pro, while I did my own testing on mostly Normal and Pro, so there should be no guessing on any (details are shown when you hover over the item in the following list):

Workshop pages show the images themselves. I did not add the images to the items shown in the list because the dev deliberately left them blank.

Edit: Oh, and anyone wanting a subscribe to all button:

finished playing magnibox and decided to make a guide for the secrets scattered around.

I'm in the middle of Cypher:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/746710/
It's basically a simulation of a small museum about cryptography. Each room is dedicated to a different kind of cryptography, and there are 3-8 "exhibits" (puzzles to solve) in each room.

In the 5th room, you have to basically work out how the Enigma Machine works. Madness. Since I'm slow, I had to piece it together pretty slowly, and wound up writing a short Guide about it.

If that looks fun to you, you might like the game. (There are just 3 puzzles using the Enigma machine, other puzzles use other kinds of cryptography.)

riddlord is like the room, only less polished. still worth checking out as there aren't many of its kind around. I put together a secrets guide because it didn't require too much effort.

A while back I cooked up a full Guide/walkthrough for the Crystal Shard Adventure Bundle, which I've also reviewed and recommended. See the insert below, or jump to the Guide here.

I'm playing through The Last Door: Season 2, and got stuck on basically a single puzzle. Out of frustration I turned to the existing Guides, but none of them really helped me sort out what to do, so when I did figure it out, I threw a Guide together. This is very spoiler-iffic for a single puzzle, but will probably be pretty opaque to anyone who hasn't played the game. See the insert below, or jump to it here.

If you've never heard of The Last Door:
  • It's an atmospheric, Lovecraftian point-and-click, emphasizing the "cosmic horror" of Lovecraft.
  • Graphics and audio are somewhat minimal, but usually quite effective in building a creepy world.
  • Puzzles are usually not terribly challenging (with a few exceptions, like this one, which I blame more on poor communication with the player than on the logic of the puzzle itself).
  • There are 2 titles in the series (released as "Seasons," and each containing several "episodes"). While I thought that Season One was great, so far I'm finding Season 2 to be very oddly (un-)balanced.

After playing Umiro I wanted to write up a review, and needed a way to illustrate gameplay better than the trailer did. So I made this gif:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1871435787
I've never really thought to upload gifs to Steam before, but it can be pretty handy (for the right game) and there's lot of free software out there for gif-making. Using the software takes a little practice, and Steam limits gif-size to 8MB, so you've got to ditch a lot of resolution. But I liked the result and will probably do it again for other games. For anyone else interested, here's some simple uploading instructions that I do understand, and some complicated instructions that I don't fully understand.

I've nearly run out of stuff to post, but let's keep the streak alive for at least one more week.

You've probably heard me sing the praises of PATHOS in the past. Here's a Guide that I put together with a couple folks on Steam (folks who I became Steam Friends with solely in virtue of our shared obsession with PATHOS), showing solutions to nearly all the levels:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1630564206
This took us far too long -- it represents the culmination of a few hundred hours of gameplay between us. I'm sure y'all have had a similar experience getting consumed with a puzzler.

Good times.

Well, this is probably going to end my streak of gaining the spotlight in the Weekly Announcement, because it's the last bit of puzzle-rleated content I have at the moment, and I don't know if I'll make any more any time soon. 6 weeks is a good run.

Do you have a minute to talk about my lord and savior, PATHOS?

I made a little, not-so helpful infographic for some "Secret Sequence" achievements for Mallow Drops. I still don't understand some of the remaining ones...
