RGL S6 - Newbie Mix Team Drive Sign-Ups
TL;DR (Oh look, it’s at the top)

DISCLAIMER: If you are familiar with previous team drives, this one will be done differently. In the interest of streamlining the process for the future, the drive will now be conducted through google forms. If you have any comments, questions, or concerns about this, feel free to ask your question in our discord channel #team-drive-questions.

If you haven’t already, join the discord here: https://discord.gg/5fGBNa3Xvb
  • You sign up here if you want to be put on a 6v6 team with similar people by us, along with a mentor to help you make the season productive and make you a solid player in the world of organized competitive TF2
  • Signups will be open until May 6th. Season is currently expected to begin May 17th.
  • You will be playing for 9 weeks, 3 nights a week, 2 hours a night, some time between 8:30 EST to midnight EST. You MUST have open availability on at least 3 nights between those times, Sunday - Thursday.
  • There are no league fees for RGL Newcomer and Amateur divisions
  • DO NOT sign up if you are planning on looking for a team on your own. It wastes our time, and potentially ruins the season for 5 other people if you suddenly declare that you are no longer interested in playing for your assigned team. If you sign-up and something comes up, CONTACT TONY ON DISCORD at tonyolsen#3664
  • If you decide you no longer want to be placed on a team, CONTACT TONY ON DISCORD at tonyolsen#3664
  • Submissions will be verified for irregularities and we will message you on discord to clarify if needed.

What is this drive?
In the team drive, you and 5 other players will get partnered up with an experienced mentor that will help guide you through the season. The mentor won’t be playing on the team, but will help you with everything from registering your team on RGL, to finding your first scrims, to demo reviews, and everything in between. RGL Traditional 6s league is the best experience you can currently have in TF2, thanks to its commitment to creating both a serious paid league for top-level talent while trying to maintain balance and fairness in their lower divisions. You will have fun, meet new friends, play tons of TF2 and improve as a player and a teammate.

What is Competitive 6v6?
Here is a great summary of competitive TF2 in video form: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tjw3X8RQQlA

It is a game where two teams of 6 players compete to win the most rounds during the course of a match. It is played almost exclusively on 5cp and koth maps, and is a fast-paced game of mobility and moving on small advantages. As such, the typical line-up is two scouts, two soldiers, one demoman and one medic - the most aggressive and fast-moving combination possible. We will only be placing people on teams as these "main" classes; there may be opportunities to off-class to other classes, but do not expect to play a season on them.

Important Information about RGL and the Drive
  • RGL is a league with seasons, which means joining is an 8-13 week commitment. Ideally, all signups are already interested in competitive TF2, and are willing to play the 8 week season (month to month)
  • RGL is always played at night, with the default match times falling on 9:30 EST (6:30 PST) and teams playing/practicing within the general time window of 8:30 PM EST to Midnight EST, sometimes slightly earlier. You must be prepared to be available to at least 11:00 EST in case the match runs late. Occasional absence is normal - life happens; but constant and erratic absence is not good. If you believe you will be absent at many times, please consider signing up as a sub rather than a starter.
  • While it varies from team to team, most teams play on average 3-4 days a week, Sunday through Thursday. We do our best to match you with people of similar schedules, but overall you should be able to play at least 3 days a week. If you can’t, consider listing yourself as a substitute instead of a starter.
  • The drive is catered to people newer to competitive TF2 and 6v6. If you are new to competitive, chances are you will learn a lot by playing in your first season, but the season will be quite hard and you may not get many wins.
  • Toxicity on these drive teams is not tolerated, and will likely result in you being replaced by your team. As toxicity is typically your misplaced frustration with yourself, if you do have a tendency to get emotional, consider your reasons for being unhappy with your own performance and what you could do to improve. You’ll have a much more productive season that will also not result with you being replaced.
  • You are expected to keep an open line of communication with your team, your coach, and the admin team, preferably through steam or discord. Before teams are made, we will have a check in process that will confirm you as a signup. This check in process will be done through our discord.
  • Due to the nature of team building, some applicants may not be initially placed on a team as a starter. This is mostly due to a lack of a certain class main needed to complete a lineup, too many conflicting schedules, etc. If this becomes the case for you, we will contact you to see if you are interested in subbing on a team for the time being. Many teams will need a starter replacement at some point and you can be moved to main if interested.

Rules about Signing Up
  • This thread is only for the information provided. If you have questions, check the #team-drive-faq and #team-drive-questions channels in our discord. There will be links below to sign up.
  • This drive is for traditional 6v6. We have signups available for the 6 roles in 6v6: Pocket Scout, Flank Scout, Roamer Soldier, Pocket Soldier, Demoman, and Medic. Do not apply for any classes you aren’t willing to play for a full 8 week season.
  • You will be expected to specify your time zone. This is incredibly important for scheduling purposes.
  • Do not lie about your experience. If you lie, we will replace you.
  • You don’t need an RGL Profile to sign up, but if you already have one, please link it.
  • If you want to play with 1 - 2 other players (2 - 3 of you total), have everyone submit an INDIVIDUAL application. Everyone needs to specify the discord profiles of each other in order to be placed on the same team.
  • If you want to play with 3 - 5 other players (4 - 6 of you total), we will treat you as a “premade team” and will fill in where needed with other applicants. In this case, your designated team leader should submit a single TEAM application and include the information as it applies for each of your team members.
  • If you have any edits to make, you can make them on the google forms. If you want to delete the post completely, contact tony at tonyolsen#3664
