Brightness changes when selecting games in Library

As the title suggests, the brightness of the Steam app increases when certain games are selected in my Library or when viewing the Download section. This issue appears to only affect the Steam app (my other open windows and desktop are fine). Unfortunately I couldn't find a setting that might be causing this and I'm hoping I don't have to reinstall Steam.

A bit more information would be helpful.

Which operating system are each of you using?
Does the bug appear in the beta branch, stable branch or both?
Do you remember when the bug first appeared?
