Controller Configuartion Loads Blank
ISSUE
When opening Controller Configuration on certain games only a blank black screen is presented. Not all games, but multiple are now having this issue that did not have it before.

OS
Windows 10

STEPS
Select LIBRARY from the main menu
Select ALL GAMES
Select Game *for example for me Limbo, Contagion, Ashen the red witch, My Big sister, and other games but not all*
Click on Controller or Settings > Properties > Controller Configuration > Edit

RESULTS
Controller Configuration opens but is blank

EXPECTED
The ability to edit controller settings.

Screen Shots for reference:

Completing deleting steam and removing all files seemed to fix it. If anyone knows another work around let me know,
I've just experienced what seems to be the same issue.

Windows 10

I was configuring controls for Ale Abbey. I saved my configuration and restarted Steam.
After that, controller config for Ale Abbey was blank like in Anisty's screenshot. A default template was active in the game (I assume; it wasn't mine and Ale Abbey supposedly has no controller support). No other game I checked had a blank controller config UI. Uninstalling and reinstalling Steam fixed it.

If anyone running into this can save the controller.txt and controller_ui.txt logs from the steam/logs folder that'd be great for tracking this down.

Hey sir, having a similar though not quite the same issue. I am able to load a config for No Mans Sky, but shows up blank when loaded. If I hit back to the previous menu, I can actually see the binds show up for a split second but alas when I go back in the menu they show blank again. I grabbed the requested log files and was hoping it would help. This is not in Beta build, however, it is in public/stable. This is with a steam controller.

Here is my controller.txt - https://pastebin.com/hKLxnAMF

And controller_ui.txt - https://pastebin.com/a6s65gNW

Hi, it looks like you have a very old Xinput configuration and we're not automatically resetting you to the latest official configuration that is required for the game. Can you go to the config browser and manually select the official configuration? I'm looking into the code reason as to why you got into this state, but I believe if you do that you should fix your issue.
I had this problem as well, and tried everything including a complete uninstall/reinstall of Steam. In the end, what fixed it was changing its category in my Library. I moved the game from Favorites to Uncategorized on the sidebar, and the controller configuration page started working again.

It seems to be a problem with the beta client, as in beta even my xbox and pro 1 controller show all blank pages on settings, yet when I switch to non beta client it works again just without pro 2 being detected....
Just wanted to chime in this is still a problem for me too. Only a single game identified so far, completely blank settings, not even reinstalling steam and completely purging the .steam folder helps.
(Linux Mint 22.2.)

However, i notice that the game in question does cause controllerconfig.h to flare up eight assertion failures when i try to start the game with steam input enabled, after which it dumps a whole lot of silly looking data into the logs files (seemingly tracing through every other config it can find, loading all of them...?).

Logs can be provided on request

I fixed mine by deleting all files in the controller layouts folder, this seems to fix it and everything works now.

I deleted every single file Steam would have installed and it didnt help, but out of curiosity; `Steam/controller_base` or `Steam/steamapps/common/Steam Controller Configs`

Did you delete the files in the controller layouts folder? I've just looked and can;t find the folder again so it means the folder must not be needed and is causing pooroblems and once deleted stays that way, as mine hasnt remade a new one by looks of it.

Deleting the folder doesn't do anything since it's automatically pulled back down from the cloud the moment I touch anything to do with controllers (https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorageapp/?appid=241100)

But even so, deleting the folder, restarting steam client without an internet connection still fails to open the controller binding menu properly; it just renders blank (with the usual menu, accept, back labels at the bottom)
