Well it doesn't need a huge nerf it mainly needs balancing as at the moment it is very unbalanced and unfair

Well, let's see. Unlike an awp where you use smokes and flashes to close the distance and kill the awper, the R8 has a secondary spam fire, so it's still good at close range. Plus at long range it still can do around 90 damage in one hit. It's also the only gun in the game which is 100% accurate while strafing. It's also 100% accurate while jumping. And the whole gun is a total of $850, so it's cheap enough to buy on both pistol rounds and eco rounds. I swear it's like the developers don't even play this damn game.
