I also recommend trying out Cross Code and Nier Automata, both are good and the latter being my all time favorite game.
I am Setsuna is also really good.
Tales of games are fun, thought about dragon quest 2 till i read no one plays online :/
Still waiting for new ones to come out..Me too will watch post
Valkyria Chronicles is a tactical turn-based JRPG set in the fictitious war-torn continent of Europa. In this world there are two major super powers, the Federation and the Empire. The two nations are at war, fighting for a very valuable resource known as ragnite. You fight as Welkin, tank commander, and commander of squad 7 of the Gallian Militia to repel the invasion and the Empire's attempt to unify the continent under its power.
I really love this game, you should definitely check it out when you have the chance.
The story is, in my oppinion, great. The turn based combat is fun and engaging whilst also a challenge. The characters are lovable and "real" with each having a personality or character quirk that either makes them excel or terrible at combat. It's great, I really can't praise it enough.
Cool! how are you liking it so far?
I would recommend starting with Star Ocean 2 if you don't mind classic RPG with dynamic battles. Then Star Ocean 3 and then 4 to top it off. I used to really love 3 but the battle mechanics are pretty mysterious sometimes. Many people have said SO4 is bad but I enjoyed it quite a bit. Watch out for the 360 version, it crashes a lot if you don't set the display mode to 720p (memory crash). The PS3 version supposedly doesn't have issues like that and the after-story gameplay requires a lot of disc swapping on xbox but on ps3 there's none of that.
Star ocean 3 has a fantastic story and you will love the ending to it. Since Tri-Ace isn't really dedicated to making games as much anymore, you probably shouldn't get too attached to the star ocean franchise. The tales series might fill in that void if you fall in love with star ocean.
