DynMiner MMO Development Group

Welcome to the DynMiner MMORPG Group!

DynMiner is an Voxel MMORPG in mid-early development, aimed to ballance Mining/Collecting with PVE including dungeons and raids. As for the massively part, we're looking at a classic sharded worlds system, 750-1000+ per a server is the intended capacity.

The Team
This game is produced by a very small team(2 Devs), but we intend on being very involved with our community. We've made this group to help get the word out about the game to a few people to start load testing and hopefully find the bugs that are being elusive!

Cost?
Initally I plan/planned on F2P + Premium additions. This may not be the case anymore, for the alpha it will be free to try for sure.. need testing. However in the long run, I may decide to charge 5 or 10 bucks for access... and this is by no means an official price.

Release Date?
We don't feel confortable giving a release date, but we'll continue to work on it and do public tests periodicly. Once the software is stable enough we'll leave a world on for anyone to download and join!

Sharded Worlds?
Worlds that are seperated by a server, Users, profiles, and characters will be able to switch from one to another whenever, so you'll never be bound to one forever.
Creating a Multi-shard world where clients seamlessly connect over based on location has been thought about, but we're unsure if the game would be popular enough for it. We have a pretty good idea of how to go about it if we implement it.

Generation Changes, will everything restart?
With the way we have implemented the generation and player creations, nothing HAS to be removed (unless something is drastically changed, but we don't forsee this). If say we change the way the biomes generate, all player changes would stay. Even if we change generation to the point it affects altitude, they'd stay...maybe buried... but they'd be around.
A server wipe may happen when we release or go to a public beta, or any time in-between(disclaimer..). We could potentially keep an alpha world around too.

Please remember this game is in an infant stage! There will be hordes of bugs and half finished features as they are not intended for a release canidate.

Progress
Now, I wont lie, the activity on the group has been dead for a couple years. This project is still my baby and not much progress has been made over two years. Time is an issue more than anything. However, I've sat back down on coding and we'll see where it goes.

We've made a Itch.io page for the project which seems better suited than steam is for long term projects. Currently a hidden page, but we're working on some polishes to the game to make it easier to pick up without walkthrough instructions from a Dev.

Long Road to 0.1.9.2
0.1.9
Some major notes about 0.1.9 are as follows, we added these new features:
  • New stats, Mining Speed and Shovel Speed
  • Toggle UI button
  • Enhanced the UI button system
  • Player movement smothing
  • Grabage collection on the world data, no more running out of memory
  • Player Name+Billboards
  • Futher improved the particle system

  • Improved attack system
  • General weirdness fixes
  • Shader compilation issues fixed(hopfully for everyone)

  • As usual, this isn't everything and theres a lot of small fixes

0.1.9.2
I don't intend on updating the page for the small point updates, but given the break, some of this is what I've been working on this week.

  • Lots of work on a new server DB backend, changed EVERYTHING, how the blocks are stored, how the landscape is stored, how user data is stored, and so on, also changes how they're fetched and stored.
  • Fixed all the bugs that came with that?
  • Client runs again
  • Improved the loading display
  • Added some debugging commands to the game
  • General interface improvements and fixes


After these, I've started on 0.1.9.3, working again, on making a version that wont require people to be guided to use.. Its still a rather crude interface and game, I'm hoping to fix most of the major questions people will have while playing, removing a bunch of the quirks and adding things that let you play the game more longterm

v0.1.8 Completed - One step closer.
Features and Fixes in 0.1.8
  • Added basic party system!
  • Added Music with a short background song.
  • Added 'Block Actions' - Like Light Toggles
  • Added a furnace block - (Functionality isn't completed)
  • Added Ice and water generation back
  • Refined the water flow code, acts like it should now
  • Added new setting options and saves hotbar items.
  • Shortly after not fetching new sectors, the server will send a large area overview to the client. Gives a much better view of the world far away
  • Added Auto-login and start.

  • Fixed many crashes on server and client
  • Better sector hiding, from new data structure to more agressive hidding.
  • Also wont calculate faces when a sector is hidden, drastically speeds up loading.
  • Fixed the client's cache system, no more missing sectors! (And faster)
