Contrast
Violence: :extralife::extralife::extralife::bheart::bheart:
-Rarely anyone getting hurt, but there is at least one silhouette of gun use.
Sexual themes: :extralife::extralife::bheart::bheart::bheart:
-Primary adult characters are women almost always wearing revealing lingerie-like clothing since they are portrayed as vaudeville or burlesque performers. So that along with their figures are significant suggestive themes.
Foul language: :extralife::extralife::extralife::extralife::extralife:
+Any cuss words are rare, and are minor if ever.
Substance abuse: :extralife::extralife::extralife::bheart::bheart:
-Smoking is portrayed infrequently.

Other things of note:
-Vaudeville certainly fits the french setting and time period of the game, but could have avoided being as sexually suggestive as it was.
-It is fantasy or sci-fi in how your character become and manipulate shadows, which eventually conflicts with the Christian understanding of life.
-The story is centered around a girl with parents that have marital and business problems.

Brief curator review - Not Recommended:
A broken family's story unfolds when solving puzzles with shadows in this short art experience with platforming. I suggest other puzzle or art games that are not as short or as strongly suggestive.

Review

When this game was available on the Nintendo Wii, I thought it looked like a really fanciful & wonderous game to be able to become a shadow in a platformer game, but it wouldn't be until years later when I bought the game for PC. What I ended up experiencing was more weird than I imagined. The story is centered around a girl with parents that have marital and business problems, and you play a character that is her friend and reveals that story as they progress through levels.

The main women characters are vaudeville/burlesque dancers or singers, and I suppose it fit the french setting and time period of the game, but the sexually suggestive nature didn't even have utility other than matching some artistic vision or setting. For people who can get past that, players have to be comfortable with the game being more experience/art than an actual game. Who some characters truly are is left open to interpretation, but the end of the story provides additional information that will allow most people to have at least some sense of closure.

Things you should know about the gameplay:
-The story seems only meant for adults even aside from suggestive themes, although it is formally rated for teenagers by the ESRB
-Progress is only saved chapter by chapter, with a total of like 20 chapters. I closed the game while half way through a lighthouse in the second half of the game, and it set me back 7 minutes of progress.
-The entire story only took 3 hours for me to complete, but it was barely worth it for the story/experience of it all.
?Switching between 2D and 3D worlds isn't unique and isn't always super smooth (a few physical columns blocked a basic dash, requiring an advanced dash technique), but having to manipulate objects relative to light to shape the 2D shadow world was unique, albeit not always "mind bending".
+Keyboard and Mouse for the controls were fine and in general I encountered very few bugs or issues.

That's why I felt it important to review this, because I too felt mislead by marketing.

I'm trying to focus on reviewing games that aren't rated that might seem suitable for family or kids because of their appearance or popularity.
