Shadowrun: Dragonfall
Violence: :extralife::bheart::bheart::bheart::bheart:
Sexual themes: :extralife::extralife::bheart::bheart::bheart:
Foul language: :extralife::extralife::bheart::bheart::bheart:

Scores explanation:
-Fighting is often central to main story progression, though sometimes can be avoided using various traits or skills. Damage can be inflicted through physical, magical, or sometimes matrix/mental means. Blood is very common, while gore is rare to occasional.
-Several prostitute and stripper-type characters exist with revealing clothing, a couple of innuendo remarks, no character nudity, but a few nude sillouettes may exist in strip joint-type location. Player character's gender is chosen in advance and cannot be changed.
-Dialog has an occasional cuss word like PG-13, but isn't vulgar throughout.
-Drug use and purchase is commonplace, though optional for your character unless you need temporary buffs

Other things to note:
-Shadowrun games, including this one, have:
--Occasional but significant magic and occult references
--Common acceptance of spiritual world or spirituality, but barely depictions of any religion
--Magic and evil demon-type creatures
--Human augmentation that is common place because its a cyberpunk world
--Largely lawless everybody-for-themselves society
--Blood & gore cannot be disabled (verified in Shadowrun Returns)

Brief curator review - Not Recommended:
Depicts a very fallen sci-fi fantasy world with themes of violence, magic, and occult that should be avoided by anyone who can be easily influenced by such themes, especially teenagers and younger.

Review
I had no exposure to Shadowrun before playing this game, but its a well crafted story & text-heavy turn based RPG that is widely regarded as the best of the Shadowrun trilogy (developed by HBS) and a must play for anyone who likes RPG or turn based games. The different difficulty settings were appropriate based on playstyle.

As a Christian or someone sharing games with their family, this is not spiritually edifying in any way given the themes of magic and occult that keep coming up. Shadowrun takes place in a very fallen cyberpunk fantasy world, and its universe is depicted very elaborately in its visuals and text-driven story. Such details can make the game immersive and as such shouldn't be played by anyone easily influenced by such themes.

All major aspects of the game are mechanically solid, so here's my minor annoyances with the game that players should know:

-Cannot view NPCs' inventory & stats until after selecting a mission: Only parts of their inventory & stats can be derived from their window used to level them up. Had to screenshot their stats & inventory for reference after selecting a mission.

-Non obvious item "loaning" to NPCs: NPC inventory is fixed, and their items can only be changed by choosing their upgrades when they level up. An empty slot, inventory or weapon, can be filled with an from your stash. If they die, you don't get the items back that you loaned them.

-Cannot Rewind to being in home town/base between missions: You can only rewind to autosaves during a mission, and also...

-Non obvious Save & Rewind system: I accidentally triggered a manual save because I wasn't sure how far the "Save & Quit" went.

-Tough to move a character next to certain friendlies or enemies on rare occasions: About a dozen times in my playthrough, this wasn't possible because the game would select the friendly or enemy instead of the location I wanted to move a character to.

-Issues when changing action type with double click actions: If actions are configured to occur after a double click, and a map location is selected to perform an action followed by clicking a different type of action (attack, spell, etc), then sometimes the AP spend stat won't update after picking the new action. Keep in mind that a single extra click on the pre-selected map location will confirm the last action clicked, even if the action was updated sinceu the same map location was initially clicked.

-Meh Medic NPC on crew: Given how ineffective an NPC Medic was, I instead picked the Shaman since he had a heal spell. In the late game, I added a heal spell to my own non-Shaman character. Medic experience may vary on Very Hard.

-A couple items have their description text cutoff: For two of these items I believe that text describing the item's actual modifiers was cut off.

-Useless text speed option: Text is displayed ASAP regardless of what I set it to. Perhaps this is only applicable to computers with older CPUs?

MOD: Edited for conformity's sake.
