ABOUT THE STEAM CHAT
There are quite a few people here who think we muted the Steam chat associated with this group as a means of control, out of spite, because we are hypocrites, or some other (literally) ungodly reason.

Here's the scoop.

There are malicious operatives out there - one in particular, more like - who would harm our group, and the Steam chat is the one entry vector we have no control over. This person(s) would enter chat, post a lot of blasphemous, gory, or sex-related pictures or text, then leave the chat.

The problem for us, as moderators, is that we can't ban someone from chat who isn't actually in chat, and the perpetrator(s) figured out this backdoor and kept using it against us. We even asked a Steam moderator for help, but were told that the best way to help them help us was to leave all the ugly stuff there for all to see - even those members of our group who are underage.

We, as shepherds of this group, didn't care for that option. We have a lot of underage members. So we muted everyone in the Steam chat (except for us admins of course). This is the way it will be unless/until Steam gets around to addressing this issue or we can figure out a workaround for it.

Having said all this, I'm tired of and disgusted with seeing people continue to bash us for trying to handle this situation for the good of the group. If you really want "real-time" chat, go to our Discord server and get vetted, where we have more control over what's happening. https://discord.gg/0kb4LgPlpQ18LCKZ

So sorry for the inconvenience.

Hmm. He will claim victory but I understand.
I can attest to what was happening in the chat. Some pretty nasty images were being posted. I was disappointed by the chat room ability being removed, but I understand the reason.

As for Steam, I do not see a good reason why they couldn't do something. Logs of the chat exist, user ID, image URL's, etc. (including deleted things) Anyway, I digress...

Edit: Would Steam admin accept screenshots as proof? Just curious.

I, for one, think it's disgusting, demeaning, and highly offensive that some users/groups are allowed to post and/or screenshot whatever they want seemingly without any repercussions--as if they are above reproach. Then there are a few who simply cannot sneeze on the Steam forums without receiving the slightest notification of violating the TOS. One would think there should be a standard applied to all and all should abide by that standard to protect each and every user equally (especially when it comes to preventing any underage users from viewing adult-oriented/mature/graphic content of any type). I will be the first to admit that if I see something I believe violates the TOS I do not question it: I report it then allow others to adjudicate--even if the board appears to lean far more liberally than I might prefer.

Should give you an indication of where steam stands about Jesus. If I go into a game chat and bring up Jesus I will be kicked and banned for religous reasons. If on my religious channel you bring swearing, death pictures and pornographic pictures...steam: "yeah there's nothing we can do." It is strictly forbidden to talk about Jesus anywhere on steam accept our allocated areas, But Steam has no problem at all with Extremely graphic porno and pedi porno games.

Hello, im fairly new on here, but there isnt a way to kick them directly from the group?
If you go to the member list you will easily identify most of them by looking to their avatar or wallpaper (they are sexual themed). It seems some people join here because they find it funny somehow. Probably they are those that ask for respect and understanding when they are the target, but for others they have none.
But since this group has thousands of people its going to be hard to control (maybe start by those that are online?).
Also i dont know steam terms of service, can you kick somebody just by their profile? Or you need some circumstance to be allowed?

Basically anyone is allowed to join. The kingdom of Heaven is for all. and yes there are those who join just to mock and cause trouble. But They are welcome anyway. Who knows some might even receive Christ while looking to make fun.

And also we are used to being mocked. The Bible states clearly that this is to be expected.
In Jesus words. "they will hate you because they hated me"

That's part of the issue: They would join, post their visually offensive stuff, then leave. You can't ban someone who isn't here. It would happen in just a matter of minutes.

As for TOS, we have a great amount of leeway here. We have the power to ban whoever we want. I do my best to make it temporary, as a heads-up, in hopes that they change their behavior. More bad behavior gets a longer ban, until I have no other choice but to make it permanent because the person has shown that they're only interested in trolling.

As long as someone doesn't act out, we leave them alone. Having an offensive profile avatar is "acting out", and since there's a chance that avatar will get posted in the main montage, where anyone can see it without having to search for it, we ban them with the option of reinstatement if they change their avatar.
nice how you explained there is a backdoor .. now others will surely not use this info...

Not like it's too hard to find anyway, if one knows how Steam works. If they tried it here, we'd have an easier time of reporting them by just going to the profile and reporting it that way.

What a lot of people don't know is that anything you post in a discussion in a group is there forever, even if you delete it. The admin staff can see it, but nobody else can. Now, if WE can see it, I'm sure a Steam moderator can see it, and it's not visible to anyone but us, so that's a better situation for us than the chat stuff was.

Not to mention the fact that if you post something here, even if it's deleted, I can still ban you. Problem solved.

TBH Steam itself has become a real darkhole in itself. They allow so much these days. What I am most shocked about is all these sexual/ porn related games that has been a thing the last year's on steam. But that's the world. It's all "normal" for them.

At least for us Christians: we won't let this world form us in any way. We gotta be really sensitive to ungodly games and things that can affect our manners and our brain. Everything we watch and see with our eyes may be poison to our brain, soul/spiritual life and who we are supposed to be.

Ofc a good choice to just deactivate the whole group chat. While ppl still continue to attack this group with evil things and demonic related stuff, they will for sure be thrown back to where they belong. With that said, it's always room for repentance and Grace for those ppl out there who are willing to repent of their sin and start a new life with Jesus Christ.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
2 Corinthians 5:17

It gotta start somewhere, and in this context, it all start with Jesus. Your sin can be forgiven and you can receive a new life, a new creation in Him. Grace enough for everyone. He is looking for a humble person who willingly will start a new life and give up your own.

Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
Matthew 10:39

Mark says it this way:
For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it.
Mark 8:35

May God bless you all on His path with Him.

He gotcha back. Just trust in Him.
