Account Help
Hi everyone, is there any chance that my account can be recovered since I only asked a friend to create it for me a long time ago? I have the first email used on the account. I only just found out that my account has been sending suspicious messages to my friends, and one of my other accounts was affected as well. I just want to play Dota 2 that’s the only game I play on that account and I’ve already bought a lot on it. But it seems like Steam Support may have taken the account. I don’t really have much evidence buying games i usually do on codashop buying 50 steam wallet sometimes 200 on the steam app, but I do have the first email of the account.

the username of the account is brrttttt_q same name POS1

{REDACTED}

So, you did not create the account yourself?

No, I have proof. He provided it to me. I exchanged phone numbers and email addresses with him, and I am aware of his original email address. This incident occurred yesterday. When I woke up, I received an account alert, so I contacted Steam Support and provided an honest explanation.

I’ve lost hope, honestly. I don’t feel like playing Dota anymore. I spent a lot of money on that account

Unfortunately, accounts are not transferable (except in very rare cases where Steam will allow an account of a deceased person to be taken over by a family member if asked) and also not sellable. I hope you bought the account with a credit card, because you were scammed and need to issue a charge-back-the person you bought it from likely immediately claimed it back-or the account might have been stolen and the original owner was alerted and claimed it back.

You won’t get that account back, sorry to say.

ETA: Re-reading your first post and something isn’t clicking. Yours was the first email address but you “are aware of his original email address?” Why? Your first post makes it sound like you (for some reason) had a “friend” set up your steam account-your second post sounds like you bought the account from a “friend.” I’m confused.

Sorry for the confusion. To clarify, the account was originally created by my close friend as his second account. It only contained two games GTA V and Left 4 Dead. He later gave me permission to use the account because he said he would no longer use it.

We communicated through Discord, and I informed him that I would be changing the email address and phone number so he would no longer have access. I did not purchase the account, and no credit card was used.

I understand that Steam does not allow account transfers. I would just like to ask whether the original creator of the account would still be able to recover it through Steam Support, since he was the first owner
I have a question: just in case my friend reports this to Steam Support, would he be able to retrieve the account since he is the original owner?

Thank you for understanding me, and thank you for your time and effort

Yes. As mentioned above an account is personal and cannot be transferred to someone else.

Yes, your friend is the one who would need to retrieve the account since it was his first.
