It's not a bad idea. But a lot of subscriptions work this way.

The other is the game's publisher manage subscriptions, so whether they want to provide the option Valve won't override those decisions. Expect a lot of publishers to decline the offer.

I've never liked subscriptions and always did this when ever I could or I would subscribe and immediately cancel as that typically locked in that 30 days.

I could support such an idea, ya. Especially with games and/or services that had subscription options.

Downside is those places also rely on user forgetting and maybe against it.

legislation is the only thing that will get valve and any other big boys to stop using/allowing dark patterns.
