Regional pricing needs to be introduced for more Eastern European countries
Dear Steam Team,

I can't stress this enough, for some unbeknownst to me reason, steam has only picked three Eastern European countries to have regional pricing [Russia, Ukraine and Poland]. That means that everyone else who lives in economically poorer countries, especially in the Balkans [cause a lot of those countries aren't EU members] like Bosnia, Montenegro, Serbia, Macedonia, Albania so on and so fourth need to pay the same price as people who live in significantly wealthier countries. Before you all get mad at me for bringing up this issue, cause it's been brought up by someone before, I must state that this is a very important matter! How are we expected to pay the same price as someone with an average annual salary which is at least double and in some cases even 9x bigger than ours? I urge steam and their team to be rational and implement this feature. Everyone in the Eastern European steam community would forever be grateful to you for this.

Sincerely,
Grey

Devs set the price. Not Valve. If you want cheaper games, ask the devs/publisher.

You clearly didn't read what I wrote properly.

steam made MENA region and the prices suck, clearly they don't know or care about the average income in here. so even if they made a specific pricing tags for you, mostly devs won't go by it as the first comment said.

Blame the EU/UN.

Steam used to region lock keys which allowed developers to set the prices based on a lot more regions/countries since they didn't have to worry about people buying keys from cheaper regions and selling them in their own region.

This was deemed illegal so they based all the prices off of the Euro which ♥♥♥♥♥♥ over countries that don't have a strong economy.

MENA is at least 1/2 full USD when the devs/pubs set it to Valve's suggested pricing.

majority of games are less by $10 - $15 max, few are half the price

They defaulted to full USD and some devs/pubs still haven't updated them or they just don't care to use Valve's suggested pricing.

Probably.

Actually, in Poland default recommended Steam prices are higher than in Euro. We have 2nd highest prices by default. Default prices weren't updated since 2022, so they use outdated exchange rates. Valve doesn't want to fix it, so we have to message each developer separately and try to convince them to change regional price.

We have some petitions and campaigns about that, but Valve doesn't care.

No one is complaining about Polish pricing in this thread.

Read what OP said - they gave an example that Poland has it better with regional pricing, while we actually would pay less if we used Euro instead of our currency.

They didn't say "better regional pricing" nor implied such.

steam should implement price suggestions like on google play as the default pricing in eastern european countries
they got RON there and the prices are actually something someone interested in the product would pay, like stardew valley that is like 5$ on mobile, which made me buy it again. on pc I bought it when it was half price in euro because that was the closest to a fair price it had on steam.
do devs get less money per purchase this way? yes
do they get less money overall? probably yes, as the people that know some of this apps were already people with the income to have a pc, and maybe enough to buy a game when it is half price or something, but it would be more welcoming to newcomers and the younger audience for sure.
from personal experience, I started buying games from young because back then we still discounts for 90% constantly for games that as a kid were good enough, and we had discounted games as low as 10 cents back then (only 2017, i think, idk, it was a while ago) those that were there know of mr. trashdump and his stash of good prices, and I mean real good prices for any game, even gta, it was random, but man, if that thing was still around, g** and e**** would not be as strong around these parts of the world.

Valve did not set regional pricing for Poland as Poland never joined the Euro they kept their own currency.

As for who does set the price:

https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/store/pricing

Partners on Steam are responsible for setting and managing pricing for their products.

Note: That is also applicable to other PC stores.

Example product:

The Outer Worlds - £24.99 Steam - £24.99 Epic - £24.99 GOG.

The Outer Worlds Spacer Choice Edition - £49.99 Steam - £49.99 Epic - £49.99 GOG.

Still, you need to be careful what you're asking for, as Valve completely abandoned updating regional pricing, even though they promised they'll do it regularly. The last update was almost 3 years ago, so if they can't even update recommended prices, I wouldn't expect them to add another region. I'd be happy if they did, becanuse maybe, as a side effect, they'd look at other regions and update the prices.
