Will we ever get a sequel?
Bunch of zoomer-coded weebs in the forum make this game look bad. For those who appreciate it, would love to see another! The charm and creativity did not go unnoticed!

Technically there's Crymachina. Not a story sequel, but made by the same studio: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2258500/CRYMACHINA/

That's been on my wishlist for ages and I'd never realized it was the same studio! Thanks for the tip!

the game is so good, they go way and beyond to make sure you wanna cry by making the gameplay miserable so you can feel like the characters in the game.
The developers clearly had to make this a 60 hour game without having the content to back it up.
Seriously making people go through the game 3 times for the true ending?!

You have to replay multiple chapters (IIRC 3-8) 3 times, with some story details changed, to get 3 'endings' before you can get the real ending, and they don't change the maps and maintain 3 'levels' on each map/chapter for most of it, so you're clearing the same map a minimum of 9 times for the base game, 18 times if you're 100%ing achievements, retreading half of the game's content.

And yet it still respects the player's time more than Crymachina.

You're partially correct. You replay chapter 6-8 with different bosses each time, and each with a different level beforehand. The game is already quite short, the few minutes you spend each level is for the new dialogue cutscenes. I don't see it as much different to what Nier Automata did, which was heralded as some 4D-chess move.

Regardless of semantics however, what YeulEmeralda said implies you need would to play through the entire game three times, not the last quarter
Sadly, realistically its less than likely. But as someone who holds the game dearly I would pay good money for it. As a community the best we can do is hope and give light to the game as a whole because it's very under appreciated.
