Hello everyone, here is the latest update for Live Wallpaper. In this version, we have comprehensively optimized the wallpaper display scheme, multi-monitor experience, and Workshop page, and introduced a more convenient desktop background history feature. Here are the details:

We redesigned the wallpaper display system, fully fixing the issue where dynamic wallpapers could freeze or pause when clicking on the screen in the old version.
The new system significantly improves stability and smoothness, providing a more seamless experience.

We added a multi-monitor settings entry (top-right corner of the main page).
The current functionality is basic but sufficient for regular multi-display setups. More advanced multi-monitor features will be added in future updates.

To make it easier to find the wallpapers you want, we have made several improvements to the Workshop:

• Search Function: Quickly search all Workshop content.

• Removed manual cover upload: Previously, user-uploaded cover images often did not match the actual wallpaper, so this feature has been removed.

• Dynamic previews for all wallpapers: GIF previews are automatically generated during upload, providing a more consistent and realistic display.

Note: Covers for previously uploaded content cannot be updated automatically. Creators may re-upload if needed.

We added a desktop background history feature.
Wallpapers set as desktop backgrounds are now automatically saved, so you no longer need to re-set them after rebooting your PC, making the experience more convenient and smooth.

During development, we found that some features require more testing and refinement than expected, so they will be released in the next version:

Further reduce background resource usage to ensure that wallpapers do not affect games or other applications under heavy load.

Dynamic wallpapers will automatically switch to static mode to maximize performance savings.
Users can also enable this mode manually, suitable for office work, gaming, or lightweight scenarios.

We will start reviewing Workshop content and tags to improve classification accuracy and enhance browsing and management experience.

Hello everyone, this is the first announcement for Live Wallpaper. We will regularly update you on the progress of the app, including completed features, ongoing development, and future plans.

Our goal is not to be a copy of Wallpaper Engine—Wallpaper Engine is a great product and already excellent. We aim to provide a different desktop beautification experience, with wallpapers being just one part of it. In the future, we plan to gradually add features like mouse pointer customization, taskbar beautification, system themes, and other desktop-related enhancements.

Currently, the app is still basic: wallpaper content is limited, and performance can be further optimized.

In the first version released before November 13, due to our limited understanding of Steam's uninstall mechanism and insufficient testing, some users experienced system error pop-ups when starting the computer after uninstalling the app.

The issue was caused by the fact that video wallpapers require a background service. If users had to start the app manually every time they booted, the experience would be poor. To improve this, we registered a startup entry, but we did not realize that uninstalling the app does not remove this entry, causing errors when the system could not find the app.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, which caused concern for some users, even leading them to wonder if our app was malicious. We will strengthen quality control to prevent such issues in the future.

Settings for multi-monitor setups will be available soon. This feature was previously supported but not publicly released due to performance issues. We plan to update it within a week so multi-screen users can set wallpapers normally.

We are developing interactive wallpapers while optimizing performance to reduce CPU and memory usage. The app will automatically enter a power-saving mode during full-screen gaming or work, without affecting experience. Due to the large workload, we will release this feature in stages and aim to complete it within a month (fingers crossed 🙏).

The Workshop page will be upgraded with a new creators section, allowing users to better recognize the authors of each excellent work.

We sincerely thank every creator and every player using Live Wallpaper. The app is free because we know the current product is still quite basic; charging for it would be unfair to players. More importantly, we want to build an open platform where everyone can enjoy the charm of dynamic wallpapers—whether you are a student, a professional, or of any status or income level.

Most of the content comes from the selfless contributions of Workshop creators. In the future, we hope to gradually build a community where creators can benefit and users can enjoy more exquisite wallpaper works, allowing both creators and players to share the joy of desktop beautification together.
