First 4h in the game:

1) Create an abomination that would offend god himself in character creator
2) Watching my demon from depths below in cutscenes next to K-pop beauty side characters
3) Watched a bear try to get a beehive to learn t’ai chi
4) Immediately use said new learnt t’ai chi skill to launch the bear into the stratosphere
5) Nearly die and get a sprain from fighting the bear and bee venom from trying to get the beehive
6) Accidentally steal a horse and get a head injury from the rider I stole it from
7) Have 3 injuries/illnesses at this point which make combat significantly harder
8) Get a random private message of a guy wanting to join my session
9) I accept - to have a Chinese named Asian John Wick join me
10) He proceeds to heal me and have a chakra mini game battle with my diseases/injuries
11) Fully heals me, then requests to duel me
12) Beats the living absolute ♥♥♥♥ out of me without taking a single hit of damage - bows to me to say thank you and leaves my game
13) I am in absolute awe
14) Immediately beeline to learn how to become a doctor
15) Proceed with quest-line - learn how to treat basic poison
16) Still really new doctor with low mastery so can’t heal anyone
17) Find an injured goose - proceed to heal him to practice my doctoring skills
18) Start practice the chakra mini game on my guild mates and friends
19) Mastery level rises to the point I can heal more and more complex diseases such as Depression and Broken bones
20) Start to pick up healing requests on the board - join people’s sessions, heal them, proceed to duel them and then leave
21) Mastery getting very high - getting to the point where I can skip the mini game and insta heal even the most complex diseases
22) Still duel everyone after healing them
23) My mastery is the highest on the list of doctors online - start getting private messages from people to come to their session and heal them
24) People start calling me the “green faced master duelling healer” in world chat when people ask for a doctor.
25) Getting a request for healing almost every minute at this point
26) Have not yet lost a healing duel with over 100 healings performed
27) Get a request for a level 4 Soul bind - a very complex disease
28) it’s from Asian John Wick
29) proceed to heal him - and then the duel commences
30) It’s a close fight - but I win with literally 1hp
31) He gets on his knees and does a deep bow, says GG and leaves my session
32) I am the best doctor

This game is incredible 10/10 - why it’s free to play is beyond me.

The game world is set in a vast and beautiful Chinese land with a heavy Wuxia inspired setting. The world is a massive focus of the game itself, and exploration is king here, both in progressing your character and as a player interacting within the world. It seems like in every direction there is something for the player to engage in, whether it's combat, a minigame, or exploration/lore, there is SO MUCH to explore and find.
As a point of reference, Elden Ring comes to mind as having awesome exploration, and in my opinion, this is even better here. This might be the best exploration-focused game I have ever played.

The game also advertises its narrative as a core element. Right from the start, there is a strong focus on the story. As I progressed, I felt the story get a bit weaker, but still above average, especially for an online “MMO”-esque game. I think it's a solid story, but the hardest part might be the Chinese influence - names can be very hard to follow. I should mention, In my 40+ hours, I did not finish the story fully, but I did catch up almost to the end of the gated content (the story is time-gated as they release new content frequently).

The gameplay entirely revolves around exploration. Everything is connected to exploration. Exploring progresses your character, and gives you various currencies through things like chests, combat, gathering, and hunting. There are frequent minigames, puzzles, and collectables as you traverse the area. If you walk in a single direction, it wouldn’t take more than 30 seconds before you find something of interest.

Let’s talk about the combat. I found it interesting, but a bit shallow. There are around ~10 different weapons, that act as classes. Most weapons are tagged as DPS, like swords and spears. There are a few that are classified as tank and healers, using large heavy weapons, or fans, respectively.
At its core, the combat only consists of using 5 skills from weapons and 4(+4) skills that anyone can use. The 5 weapons I played around with, I found all fairly simple and consisted mostly of building up resources and then dumping them via a spender.
To expand on the RPG aspects slightly, there are various systems that improve your stats as you level and builds you can create using passive abilities.

The difficulty in this game can range from easy to very hard, and when you are doing solo content, like the story, you can set the difficulty level to what you are comfortable with. I found it to be close to something like Sekiro or Dark Souls on the higher difficulties, but lower was much easier.

Amazing. This game looks obscenely good many times. By far one of the best looking games I’ve ever seen.

There surprisingly isn’t a lot of graphical options, maybe ~15ish, but I was able to max it and get around ~100 FPS with occasional dips. Ironically, I experienced the worst performance with indoor dungeon-like environments, not the outdoor world with the draw distance. Seems backwards, I know. Still, it runs good on a technical side.

I did run into a few bugs with getting stuck in walls, but was able to get out via teleporting.
My biggest complaint graphically is the menu UI. Often times I’ll find a screen and then will never be able to find it again if I need to access it. Super frustrating, but the menu is just awful. There are waaaay too many menus. The gameplay HUD is fine, and the top-level menu is good, but its when you start digging you really notice the issues.

Good audio, very reminiscent of the Wuxia era. All the music is from that period.
There are instruments that players can play and even compose their own music (mostly using programs).
There is voice acting, but in English, it's often not very good and doesn’t match the subtitles a good portion of the time.

There is a LOT to do here and more content is releasing frequently. I haven’t gotten deep into the end game grind yet, so I can’t say if it is worth it dumping hundreds of hours into this, but I’ll say that with the content I’ve played, I haven’t gotten bored yet.

Where Winds Meet (WWM) is a Chinese action RPG game with a heavily inspired Wuxia setting. This is a sort of “Lobby-based’ MMO-lite where you can play solo or online with others. This is not a true Massively Multiplayer Online game - you won’t see hundreds of people at once. Instead, you have the option to complete PVE content with players, like boss fights, or play solo player, where the majority of the game is focused on.
Despite the single player focus, I really like how WWM incorporates online aspects into the game. Whether it's through world chat, Dark Souls-like sign posts, or joining groups for healing/cultivation, there’s enough of a community focus where I never really felt alone.

WWM is built around exploration, which greatly appealed to me. I found myself taking much longer to get from point A to B due to being constantly distracted by the amazing world and exploration. There are frequent mini-games and rewards for exploring that not only give you currency, but also develop your character by providing stat bonuses and improvements.

Overall, I do recommend WWM. Despite some translation issues, this is a bona fide AAA-game that is free, respects players time, and is not P2W. I can see some issues in getting past the Chinese culture, translations, and I do question the longevity of the end game, but this is an experience and world absolutely worth spending some (free!) time in.
