Easy to point blame when you barely understand business.
No.
The series died because the studio and publisher had absolutely no clue as to what made the series great and ignored the Thief community who have loved and supported the series since The Dark Project and then people like you thanked and defended them for publishing it.
Of course I won't play it either, because it is VR-only. At least it is, after 11 years, better than nothing. This said, there should be at least the Thief Trilogy Remastered* next!
*Thief Gold, Thief 2: The Metal Age, and Thief: Deadly Shadows
A game series that, while beloved, is a niche genre, remade a decade ago in a bad way now is going to come back in VR which means it will have an even smaller audience.
OP needs to understand that this game, and the ENTIRE series, wasn't just made for him.
So you can't claim you speak for everyone here.
Thief isnt back - I am an OG player since end of 90s, loved all parts includ. Part 4. But VR is simply a NoGo, not only for the hardware that is necessary, but also for the fact that a lot of people simply cant enjoy games in VR due to physical reasons. It just makes no sense.
So yeah, there are good reasons to throw tantrums...
Saying this i would love to see all older parts remastered. I also dont care about with Garrett or not. Just give me a new good Thief without VR. Thats it. 100% buy.
Remember when Sonic movie was in the making and how people complained about characters look?
The creators listened, changed the look to his traditional cartoon design and so the movie became sucessful and had decent follow ups.
Thief 2014 is the exact opposite and it is why it failed.
Now listen very carefully, OP. I want you to just say one thing:
Oops.
Nobody asked for a cheap VR version which looks the same as Thief 4 only with 2 floating hands, and on top, they get rid of the beloved main character just to genderbend this franchise too. If they invested resources to make a new Thief, at least they could have done it properly.
Completely agree. I'm not too bothered by a lack of Garrett. But VR and PS5 are an instant no for me. I'm not buying another console, and I'm not buying a vr headset just to play one game.
