[REQUEST] New Beta Build - Launch Failures
Hello,

We've seen reports of issues launching the game with either the game immediately closing or sitting on a black screen. We would love to get your help in identifying the root cause of these issues as we have not been able to reproduce the problems.

We've pushed a new build to a "Beta" branch with-in Steam. You can find this by going to your Steam library, right clicking on God of War Ragnarök and then clicking Properties. On the left side, click Betas and then in the Beta Participation drop down, select the "beta - Beta builds" option (note you may need to restart Steam before this appears for you).

This build only adds new error messaging on start up that will alert to various issues that might be going on. In those error messages, it may also provide instructions to help troubleshoot the issue.

Please follow those instructions and then notify us within this thread about what error messages you are receiving, if any. Please keep this thread limited to reporting of only launch error messages and not general issues or other troubleshooting. Thank you!

If you are receiving error messages about PSPC launching, we ask that you also open up a support ticket via https://support.sms.playstation.com/hc/ and attach any log files you find in the following location...

C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc\PSPC_SDK\titles\PPSA25043_00\logs\

opened the game with the beta downloaded and enabled, no popup was shown.

Can you clarify that the game did not launch AND no pop up was shown or the game launched fine? The pop up will only appear if an error was detected. If the game is still not launching, can you please provide more details on the experience? Did it sit on a black screen? Did it immediately close itself? Did the game crash? Thanks!

I have also been struggling to launch the game since the update. normally what happens is the game opens a black window and then crashes, and puts up the crash reporting window. After installing the beta patch, i can confirm that no new messages or windows have appeared, it is exactly the same. Whatever you guys have tried to do to give us info on the errors isn't working.

my game won't open, it stays at white screen and then it closes by itself then it shows a message of crash:steamthumbsdown:

The same here, i installed the beta and I'm having the same symptoms.

Hello. Looking at the crashes just on this beta build and it's giving some clues, but we need some more information. If you are on the beta build and crash at startup, can you please open up a support ticket via https://support.sms.playstation.com/hc/ and attach your account.dat file found in the \Saved Games\God of War Ragnarök\<steamid>\ folder? Thank you!

I just happened to have encountered that error myself. The game froze upon launch, closed itself then I was greeted with the prompt to send logs.
Windows 11 latest build (checked with SFC)
asus x670e-f latest BIOS
32gb DDR5 4800MT (stock JEDEC)
RTX 4080 factory OC
Drivers 572.16 cleaned installed.

System is stable.

the game did the black window that you discussed in the original post, and nothing was created

i tried the new beta build, still the same, it all came to a black window that just closed itself seconds later with no pop up

Ok! sended the file.
I select beta build, but the file account.dat is not updated

Hello! I launched my game in the beta mode as suggested and I get all the way into the game without any error messages. However, once I'm in the game the whole thing crashes and it directs me back to Steam and has me send a report in to notify you guys of the issue. The game doesn't provide me with an error code of any kind, it just crashes and has me report it.
