Playing FTL Makes Steam Recommend Bad Games
I noticed that in the 3 different years I played FTL a lot in November and December steam tries to sell me a lot of (bad) deck building games but when I don't play it, I get more normal recommendations when browsing. Now if they were bad space games, I could see steam thinking "oh, these games are all about spaceships" that would make sense, but some of them aren't. This doesn't bug me at all. I usually buy a game for any reason other than browsing through the store at random, so the fact that playing this game makes every 1/8th recommendation be something bad doesn't really bother me, but I find it strange.

It's probably because a lot of those deck-building games have the roguelike or roguelite tag.

It's the tags. You can also make it ignore games instead of recommend them. I did that to all the adult games in the store by telling Steam to ignore the visual novel and anime tags.

OK, but why are they suggesting games with 75% or more positive rating that are actually bad when I play them? You'd think it would just suggest a good deckbuilding game if it was going to suggest a deckbuilding game at all. Not that any were made in the last 3 years, but I find it odd steam think "OK he likes a good roguelike game, let me recommend bad roguelike games"
oh, you are saying games are bad because you dont like them. grow the ♥♥♥♥ up kid

75% is a pretty good game.....what are you even smoking?

you give no examples in these "bad games"

i have a feeling you would be getting entirely roasted if you actually mentioned what games you say are bad games

Ok then I won't mention the games I have to return since I don't want to get roasted. Why would I bother doing that if that's the outcome? You might as well say, "tell me what you like to eat so we can make fun of you." You'll just have to take my word for it. Or maybe you won't beleive me whatever.

The guy who said Slay the Spire is to blame is probably right. It's a deck building game with roguelite elements that is generally well regarded so it's just looking at shared tags. I have no personal opinion on StS as I haven't played it.

The recommend algorithm on Steam is kind of borked.
