Salt 2 is a solid exploration-based action game, with enough depth and variety to last for the long run, without being too complex to become annoying for the less-hardcore audience. Clearly, a great amount of attention was put into making a world that is virtually infinite, and yet keeps up interest for a long time; something not every game manages to do—quite the opposite, in fact.

Not counting ship customization, Salt 2 isn’t particularly great at anything, but it’s certainly good or at least decent at everything. As such, it definitely ears its spot on the market. If you’re a fan of the pirate setting, long exploration journeys and venturing into the unknown for loot and fortune, this is definitely a solid pick.

Compared to other titles in the same genre and price range, Salt 2 falls short in meaningful content. The gameplay loop quickly devolves into repetitive grinding: sail to an island, gather resources, move on, repeat. What should feel like an exciting voyage instead becomes a monotonous cycle with little sense of progression or discovery.

While the concept of exploring a vast ocean world is appealing, the execution lacks depth, variety, and reward. Instead of feeling like an adventure, Salt 2 becomes a grind that fails to justify its cost or stand out among its peers.

Verdict: Salt 2 has potential, but in its current state, it offers endless seas with very little substance.

This is an underrated gem, if you want sea of thieves but dislike pvp this is the way to go.
