You can actual get the NV10 build to run.
IF you didn't know the devs where starting to work on adding visuals and props from the NV10 build a build of the original game made for Nvidia cards of the time but i found out it's easy to get it working you don't need a Geforce 256 like it says just , go here

then scroll down and download SHADOW MAN (Oct 05, 1999 PC prototype) once downloaded mount the the data on a virtual drive then extract the DATA folder then drag the data folder into the original games data folder replacing everything it asks you too, i haven't tested the remake but the original works fine, i'll be uploading photo as proof.

Man, this is to awesome. But I do not want to test it myself, just in case on how many faults I would get myself into? So I am leaving it off to the experts.
So after hours of comparing i can say the NV10 build we have isn't that great, maybe there was a more complete version but i guess if that did exist it's lost to time, the one left only seems to add stuff to, the starting level, the Asylum and Deadside, all the other levels seem untouched, as for characters the only change is there's a alt texture map for Nettie but you can't map it to her is doesn't tile correctly so nothing maps correctly i.e her face texture map is sideways on her 3D model,

this is a 2 year old video of where they said they were working on a mod overhaul to add stuff to other areas , but given that it's been 2 years with no update I have no Idea if there still working on it or not

Hopefully whenever ND does the Kex engine update for this game they might slap a thing or two in they might have dug out from some build or something
If that's the case i can say the person that got hired is also aware of the build i used to get the NV10 building running, as the two statues and the faces on the walls of the Asylum entrance in the latest version of the remaster are in the NV10 build, but again i have no idea why they only added some things in the NV10 build going ahead into the hallway that goes left and right the ceiling is covered in pipes and box's but they never added that to the remaster, i can only guess they also are aware of more stuff maybe Tim Haywood was aware of the NV10 build because other things in the Asylum entrance like the signs of the five above the door are not in the NV10 build, i'll be uploading a video soon to show this.

yeah I played it myself the other day and noticed that too I honestly have no Idea why they didn't add them

It's not in the video but there's also supposed to be gargoyles or something in the lavaducts and a truck on fire in the prison (he mentions this in the comment section of the NV10 video) thats what i loaded it up hoping to find

these items alongside some lines in the script that certain characters say that don't ever get used are just some of the stuff I can remember off the top of my head

....that and something to do with jaunty being in the prison levels files in the games data though I don't know where I remember that from I might have to look it up and could just be me misremembering

apparently there was a "gad chamber beast" I assume this would be after the first gad Since it mentions a ziggurate (the pyramid that you have to build) and some hammers and blades a few lines before
