DLC - which weapon to play? Nagakiba or Rivers of Blood?
Hi
I'm 130 lvl samurai with Nagakiba (AoW - Double Slash and sometimes original AoW from Nagakiba) and magic spell Bloodflame Blade. I saw many builds with this weapon but is River of Blood better to play DLC? On main story I have to kill 2 last bosses. When I enter DLC and tried to kill Rellana she was too hard and I had to do something else.
Any advices?

Both are really good weapon choices. I would pick Nagakiba though, but it's mostly because of its longer range. RoB has its AoW, but as long as you don't fall into the monkey mashing trap and don't spam that thing, then it's pretty good. I still prefer Nagakiba though, or Rakshasa from the DLC... or the Great Katana.

Yeah... I know it's a good weapon, but I was never a RoB guy.

I dual wield both, but bleed Nagakibas have better bleed build up if that’s what you’re going for. Rivers is good, but you can’t spam the AoW like you could pre nerf. Gotta actually time them L2s.

Blood flies is also amazing against her, and it helped me beat Mesmer as well.

Edit: and like Nihrahk said, the range on them ‘kibas is superb.

Thanks for answers. Do I have to lvl up more to play DLC?

No, but you’re gonna need scadu fragments. Without them, it doesn’t matter what level you are, you’re going to initially be weaker. Collecting fragments will scale you better with the DLC

Level 130 is perfect for DLC if you’re not on NG++ or whatever, or if your stats aren’t all over the place

Do some exploration and find scadutree fragments, and revered spirit ash if you use ash summons. Those will give you more damage and defense than leveling ever will.
Most DLC enemies do not bleed so neither of them is a good choice.

Perhaps. Katanas are very solid even against enemies that are immune to bleed though. You can always just give that Nagakiba a sharp infusion if you notice that bleed ain't working.

I’ve been using Nagakiba and Wakizashi dual wield.

There is a bunch of bosses that with parrying are a walk in the park.

BTW, I don’t get the negative reviews to the DLC. The art direction is even better than elden ring, the sense of immersion incredible and the bosses don’t seem any different in terms of quality or difficulty than the base game.

I played with River of Blood in my first playthrough and I ditched that weapon around 2/3 of the game, not good enough for my build. It kind of a good weapon but not possible to have an AoW and cannot be enchanted with magic neither consumables became a major issue for me. I finished the game with one another katana.

There is better katanas than that in the DLC; my end game weapon in NG+ are the Star-Lined Sword (which is a katana) combined with the Wing of Astel (curved sword) depending on the battle. The weapon skill on the Stat-Lined Sword is really cool with the same blood build up as the River of Blood.

Occult Uchigatana and 80 Arcane.

This is true for some low-mid level (where you have not enough STR/DEX to handle Nagakiba) PvP.
