[Mac] GTA 3 doesn't launch after displaying "Preparing to Launch" on OS X Yosemite

I'm trying to run GTA 3 on my Mac. When I try to launch it, the "Preparing to Launch" window pops up and then goes away without doing anything. I've run the game on this computer before and have had no problems with it until now.

I've verified my game cache, reset steam, updated my computer, and done just about everything that the Steam and Rockstar forums offer for general troubleshooting.

I'm running Steam on my Macbook Pro, OS X Yosemite, version 10.10.5.

Same problem! I have a sound on startup, but don't have a video after change resolution of the game.

I solved my problem by deleting settings file: Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA3 User Files\gta3.set

Maybe, you can solve your ;)

I have a file in that location named GTA3sf1.b but no sign of that file. Maybe I deleted it already?
Rockstar got back to me and essentially said that GTA3 is no longer supported on current Mac operating systems and that they refuse to update their software to fix it.
